Halloween Costumes Trending in 2026: Buddy the Unicorn Tops the Search List as Tallahassee Gets Ready
Google's 2026 Halloween trends put Buddy the Unicorn at No. 1 nationwide, with Dolly Parton leading the kids list and Centipede leading pets - the last-minute picture for a Halloween Saturday that also brings two college football games to Tallahassee.
Halloween falls on Saturday this year, and the costume searches say a bright orange unicorn is leading the holiday. Google's 2026 trends list, reported Friday, puts Buddy the Unicorn at No. 1 among trending costumes overall, followed by Needoh and Nikki from Obsession. The ranking is drawn from what people actually searched for as the holiday approached, and Buddy's run started early - the costume peaked in search interest in September before climbing again in Halloween week.
The lists split by who is dressing up. For kids, Dolly Parton is the top trending costume, according to Google's list. For pets, Centipede is No. 1. For couples and pairs heading out together, Disco Scooby and Shaggy are the top search. The nationwide lists will not match every Tallahassee street, but they are a fair guide to what neighbors are likely to see at the door on Saturday night.
In Tallahassee, Halloween shares Saturday with a doubleheader of college football - Florida A&M at home in the afternoon and Florida State at home at night - so the city's costume traffic will mix with game-day traffic through the evening. Families planning an early start get the quieter window: the station's forecast for Saturday is mostly cloudy with a high near 81 and only a small chance of rain, cooling into the mid-60s after dark, when most trick-or-treating begins.
