Two new appointments and one reappointment join the authority that oversees Gainesville's city-owned electric, water and gas utility.
Governor Ron DeSantis has made three appointments to the Gainesville Regional Utilities Authority, the board that oversees Gainesville's city-owned utility. The governor announced the appointment of Douglas Beck and Clark Futch and the reappointment of Eric Lawson, in an announcement issued from Tallahassee on Oct. 30.
Beck is retired from Gainesville Regional Utilities, where he served in various roles since 2005. He holds a Professional Engineering License with the State of Florida and graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, according to the governor's announcement.
Futch, of Gainesville, is employed by the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business. He earned his bachelor's degree in food and resource economics from the University of Florida and a master's degree from the University of Arkansas.
Lawson returns to the authority as its reappointed member. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of HCA North Florida Hospital and as Chief Financial Officer of HCA North Florida Hospital, HCA Orange Park Hospital and HCA St. Joseph's Hospital, and earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Tennessee Technological University. The Gainesville Regional Utilities Authority governs the municipal utility that provides electric, water, wastewater, gas and telecommunications services in the Gainesville area.
