Man Killed in Early-Morning Shooting at Jackson Lodge on Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee Police Say
Police responded about 1:41 a.m. Saturday to the lodge at 2818 Apalachee Parkway and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at a hospital, and the case is being investigated as a homicide - the latest in a violent stretch that has left at least 16 people shot since October 24.

A man was shot and killed early Saturday at the Jackson Lodge on Apalachee Parkway, the latest fatal gunfire in a violent October for Tallahassee. Tallahassee police responded about 1:41 a.m. to 2818 Apalachee Parkway, where officers found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Tallahassee Police Department incident alert reported by the Tallahassee Democrat. A police watch commander confirmed the shooting occurred at the Jackson Masonic Lodge and was believed to have happened outside the lodge, which books out for events, while cautioning that the investigation was still in its preliminary stages.
Officers attempted life-saving measures before the man was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide. Police did not identify the victim and did not provide details about what led to the shooting, possible suspects or arrests, and the investigation remains open and active.
Saturday's homicide brought the toll to at least 16 people shot in six incidents since October 24, though police determined one of those incidents was an accidental discharge and another a Stand Your Ground case. The stretch began October 24 with the mass shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium after the homecoming game, in which 11 people were injured, including six children, and it continued Wednesday, October 28, when a man was critically wounded at Magnolia Terrace Apartments on Magnolia Drive. So far this year, 14 people have been killed and 47 injured in at least 52 serious shootings in the capital city and Leon County, according to the Democrat's analysis of gun violence. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed Saturday's shooting but did not speak with officers at the scene to call the Tallahassee Police Department at 850-891-4200; anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Solvers at 850-574-8477.
