Fort Braden Community Center Turns 100, and Leon County Is Invited to the Party on Saturday
A century after it began as a hub for education and neighborhood life in western Leon County, the Fort Braden Community Center marks the milestone Saturday, Nov. 7 — and it is asking neighbors to bring their old photographs with them.
The Fort Braden Community Center is turning 100, and western Leon County is invited to mark it. The center will host its 100-year celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 16387 Blountstown Highway in Tallahassee, with food, music, outdoor games and activities for the whole family.
Organizers say the celebration will highlight the history and legacy of the Old Fort Braden School and the community center that carries its name forward — a century of service as a hub for education and neighborhood life in the Fort Braden community, and a chance for guests to connect with neighbors, local organizations and community partners.
The center is also asking the community to help build the keepsake. Residents are invited to contribute historical photos from the Fort Braden area for possible inclusion in a digital display as part of a new Fort Braden History Wall installation inside the center. Physical copies can be brought to Saturday's event for processing, and digital copies can be submitted online at any time.
