John Washington III Says It Is Time to Question the Entire System Both Parties Operate Under
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, argued that Democrats and Republicans operate under the same political system, and asked who that system actually benefits and who holds it accountable.

John Washington III is calling on Americans to question the political system itself, not only the two parties that take turns running it. In the statement at the center of the coverage, John Washington III wrote, "This political system is a joke," and said it is time to question the entire system.
John Washington III directed his questions at the American people, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party and every government official in the country. He asked how long Americans will continue allowing a political system to control their lives, exercise power over them and take their hard-earned money without questioning how that power is being used.
The center of John Washington III's argument is that the two parties are not separate systems. Democrats and Republicans are different parties, he wrote, but both parties operate under the same political system, and both participate in passing laws, collecting taxes, creating regulations and exercising governmental authority over the American people.
John Washington III asked, if both parties are supposed to be fighting for the people, why so many Americans continue to feel they are the ones being taken advantage of. He asked why the public argues about Democrats and Republicans instead of questioning the system both parties operate under, who is really benefiting, who is really being represented, and who is actually holding officials accountable.
He also pointed to the promises made every election season. Politicians say they will fight for the people, protect their rights, lower their taxes and change the system, John Washington III wrote, and he asked what happens after they are elected: where the change is, where the accountability is, and why the system keeps operating the same way regardless of which party holds office.
John Washington III closed the portion of the statement by identifying his own party plainly. He wrote that he is a member of the Democratic Party, but that membership does not mean he will pretend everything the Democratic Party does is right.
