More Than 5.15 Million Floridians Have Already Voted, State Count Shows on the Last Day of Early Voting
The Division of Elections count compiled at 8:09 a.m. Sunday puts 5,159,537 ballots already cast - 3.26 million in person and 1.90 million by mail - with another 550,106 mail ballots still out.

More than 5.15 million Floridians have already voted ahead of Tuesday's general election, according to the Florida Division of Elections count compiled at 8:09 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. The total - 5,159,537 - is up from 4,274,034 in the count compiled Friday morning, a jump of more than 885,000 ballots in about two days.
The breakdown shows in-person early voting carrying the load: 3,256,797 Floridians voted early in person, including 1,430,249 registered Republicans, 1,127,932 registered Democrats, 85,108 voters of other parties and 613,508 with no party affiliation. Another 1,902,740 voted by mail - 815,396 registered Democrats, 668,424 registered Republicans, 46,818 other-party voters and 372,102 with no party affiliation. Those figures describe participation by a voter's registration, not how any voter marked a ballot.
State officials also count 550,106 mail ballots that were sent but not yet returned. Those ballots must reach the voter's county supervisor of elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3 - a postmark is not enough. Leon County's early voting ends Sunday at its 10 sites, and on Tuesday polls across Florida are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, with Election Day voters casting ballots at their assigned polling place.
