Jolly and Donalds Make Their Final Pitch to Sarasota County as Florida's Governor's Race Runs Out of Road
Jolly's 'Believe in Better' tour stopped in Sarasota on Saturday after a Pasco County morning rally; Donalds made his own closing argument in North Port - and both campaigns are treating the Suncoast as ground where the race gets settled.

Florida's race for governor is down to its final days, and both candidates spent part of the closing stretch making their case directly to Suncoast voters, according to WENG News, the Sarasota area's own news station. Democrat David Jolly brought his 'Believe in Better' tour to the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center in Sarasota on Saturday, following a morning rally in Pasco County.
Jolly told supporters he is encouraged by what he is seeing in Sarasota County and that turnout will decide the election - a closing message that matches the shape of the race statewide, where the final argument on both sides has become a turnout argument. Republican Byron Donalds made his own closing argument in North Port on Wednesday, October 28, urging voters to get to the polls and framing the race as a choice about Florida's future.
The two stops share a common thread, WENG noted: both campaigns see Sarasota County as a place where the outcome gets settled. With early voting ending this weekend and Election Day on Tuesday, November 3, the final-week attention on the Suncoast is a reminder that local turnout in counties like Sarasota carries real weight in a statewide race this close.
